merinoI put my spinning wheel to use and made some merino yarn. I had purchased some merino wool (roving) about a month ago from a lady in Seattle. My dad’s birthday was coming up (March 10th) and so I thought I could get some merino (his favorite type of socks), spin it, make some socks, and that would be his birthday gift! I chose this roving cause it was his favorite color blue and had hints of yellow and green.

So here is the finished product… no they are not socks but at least I made it into yarn! ๐Ÿ™‚ Eventually I plan to make socks but as for now, I am content with the fact that I took fluff and made it into something. It’s not perfect, but it’s something….

With Halloween and Gracey’s birthday coming, this weekend was pretty busy. Throughout the day I would be cleaning then making handwarmers and decorating envelopes, etc. I shipped a couple orders on sat. Theyย  turned out so cute! I recently purchased a Martha Stewart paper punch in the shape of a snowflake. I have been making snowflakes out of magazine photos, newspaper, and on this envelope was a greeting card I received from my Grandma. I liked the card so much but didn’t know how I could use it. It caught my eye while I was punching holes through the whole house grinning with all the new snowflakes I created.

The stamp I made looks really pretty with the white opaque ink. The snowflakes were the perfect touch. Even though my customers at my shop (www.crazyjaneknits.etsy.com) buy there stuff, I still want to create the feeling of getting a gift in the mail. I try to keep the shipping low but by doing that, I needed to find a cheaper way to ship. So I still mail priority (which ends up being $4.60 or $4.80) and the envelope is eco-friendly and very pleasing to the eye. ๐Ÿ™‚

Saturday afternoon

I just got a new job as a para educator and the nearby highschool. It is so nice having weekends off now! I do miss the people I used to work with and the clients I worked with but this job is just right for me and gives me family time as well.

Today is a nice and sunny September day so I picked some calla lily straglers, opened roses, and tanning hydrangea’s to look at on the dinner table one last time before fall comes..ย  It is my friend Aubrey’s bridal shower today so I made her some zucchini bread (Matt’s favorite recipe) to put in the Acacia wood bread server dish I purchased for her, alone with the recipe written down on a note card. Makes a perfect saturday afternoon… ๐Ÿ™‚
